Database Applications

Critternut Services understands that obtaining and using the most up-to-date information is an important facet of any business. Professional associations and clubs integrate databases with their websites so that their members can obtain the latest news and events, or post classified ads. Other businesses utilize databases for their on-line stores (e-commerce). Have you ever ordered a product from a business only to find out later that the product is backordered or worse yet, not available? Data-driven applications can boost customer confidence in your company by supplying them with the most current information, and keep you informed of your inventory. We build database applications that interact intelligently with your website. Databases are completely searchable so it's easier for users to find what they are looking for.

We work with many database packages: MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server, and Microsoft Access. Based on your needs, we can determine the best overall database solution for your business. As a rule of thumb, for smaller projects, we suggest MySQL as the database of choice because it is extremely reliable, is supported by most web hosting companies, and and best of all, it's free! For larger projects we would suggest SQL Server.

You have many choices of programming languages. We support HTML, ASP, and PHP. For those requiring cross-platform functionality(i.e. both Microsoft and Unix/Linux): PHP is generally preferred.

We also work with Javascript for tasks such as form validation, rollover image effects, and proper web page rendering for sites that use frames.
